ABOUT THE BOOK

This book was written for managers who are expected to handle complex, high-risk performance and behaviour situations without ever being shown how.

New managers are routinely promoted on potential and left to learn through trial and happen, the consequences are real. Relationships are damaged. Grievances are raised. Careers are put at risk. The result is avoidance, often for the duration of a career.

This book exists to prevent that. It provides experience without exposure.

By following Joe’s story, readers see real situations unfold before they encounter them in their own roles. Poor performance, confrontation, grievances, office politics and power dynamics are revealed as they actually happen, not as they appear in theory.

Nothing here is hypothetical. Every scenario is drawn from lived experience and real outcomes. Readers learn what to notice, what to avoid and how to respond calmly, fairly and professionally when pressure is high.

The story allows managers to build confidence and judgement without personal risk. When similar situations arise in real life, they are no longer unfamiliar. The warning signs are recognised. The right questions are asked. Better decisions are made.

This book is not about telling managers what to think.
It shows them what happens.

That is the difference.
